For some time now, Google has been spotting when a webpage is written purely for search engine rankings and not for genuine helpful content - demoting the former and favouring the latter.
Google will demote you if you:
🔠Use extreme over-use of keywords on your site
🎛️Have a high amount of mixed messages
🈹Use too many aggressive sales tactics (which could be through wording, too many intrusive popups, forwarding or automatically forcing users to certain pages)

"This ranking update will help make sure that unoriginal, low quality content doesn’t rank highly in Search, and our testing has found it will especially improve results related to online education, as well as arts and entertainment, shopping and tech-related content."
It's a staged rollout which slowly but surely will challenge us all on the quality and intent of our content.
